Feedback – Egypt
2 participants from the pre-election Shevolution workshop in Egypt have just been elected to the people's assembly.
They are 2 out of only 8 women to be elected out of 444 available seats.
120 candidates out of the 4000 registered candidates were women (up from 87 ion 1995).
16 of these were adopted as candidates after attending a Shevolution workshop funded by The British
Council and run for the Egyptian Centre for Women's Rights. One women, Nariman El Daramaly beat 9 male

Re: Election Campaign School 2000
The National Council for Women made contact with all the participants and approached relevant
governors and political parties who in turn adopted some of the participants as candidates and
included them on the formal nominees' lists. (2 from Qena, 1 from Alexandria and 2 others).
